Monki see, Monki do – My weekend in London part 1

April 9, 2012

So it was a week last Friday that I went to London for a weekend, to see some friends. (the photos in this post were taken with my phone, so please excuse the quality)
As I arrived I in King’s Cross I noticed something was different, it didn’t even seem like the same station I’d been to before and then realized that it was the light and the spaciousness- all the tarpaulins had been removed and the renovation had been completed and there were some modern additions to the station:

I had decided I wanted to get some of the planned shopping out of the way (trying to find that sailor dress, remember?), so I didn’t have to drag my friends around over the next couple of days so as soon as I got to King’s Cross, I headed straight to Carnaby Street. I got myself an Oyster card and hopped on the tube.

Crowns in a cross-like pattern = King’s Cross, get it?
So here is the famous Carnaby Street. Last time I was here it was some 10 years ago or so, I didn’t remember much about it, to be honest. Not that there is a lot more to see other than cool shops and old pubs.  I wish I had a lot more time to explore the area but I had to go meet my friends at home later, so maybe next time.
The Irregular Choice shop! I didn’t go in as I didn’t fancy what they had in the window too much. But the shop does look darling.
A funky skull at Cheap Monday
Huuuuge mural and so detailed!
So I then went into Monki in search of the amazing sailor dress but as expected it was nowhere to be found. The shop is really cool looking, if I wasn’t dragging my luggage behind me I would’ve snapped a few more shots inside. Everything in it is well designed, fun and tasteful, even the cashier rolls have cool illustrations in the back.
The mirror effect is brilliant!

I did buy a couple of things there though, as I thought my wardrobe needed some flatforms for the Summer- I’m as tall as a hobbit so an extra inch or 2 is always welcome- and a pouch for my glasses as the ones I have sometimes take up too much space in my bag. I wore the flowery ones the next day, they are really cute.

The Stinna shoe. If you really like these shoes and you’d like a pair you can get them here

The Billy Sandal is available here.

And the Fran Spectacle Case is here.
Before I left the G I snapped a photo of what I was wearing:
I ditched the hat and added the parka before going away for the weekend.
Hat – H&M
Dress – Zara
Breton Shirt – Zara
Cardigan – Stradivarius
Tights– Ebay
Shoes – Topshop
Scarf – El Corte Ingles
Sunglasses – Moschino

lovely outfit, I like so much your dress and tights and hat!
And I think that new floral flatforms would be perfect on you!, pretty fabric and style!
And I like London shops, but I've rarely bought something in London (no time to dig into so many shops for a bargain!)

Your phone cam does great pics! I love your new shoes. You may not have found the sailor dress you were looking for but the outfit your wore on your trip seems nautical; maybe it's the colour combination…

Looks like such a fun day. I hope you find your sailor dress because you will look A-Dor-Able in it.
