And I’m back home.

June 9, 2012

I wrote this post before I left for Florida, I had an extra outfit to post and I figured that I’d be too tired to think about blogging the day after I got back, as it is usually the case (darn jetlag!).

I wanted to put together an outfit with only thrifted / second hand things, but failed, as I don’t have any second hand bags here that would go with this dress nor second hand sunglasses. It was a good effort though as the key pieces are all second hand.

This was my first attempt at taking a photo out of the house/garden, using the self timer. I found this bin with a decent height  to perch the camera on, as I have yet to buy a tripod. It didn’t go all that bad. Some people walked past and didn’t stare too much and that was good.

Details:
Headscarf – flea market in Lisbon
Dress – Liz Claiborne via Oxfam
Sandals – Jasper Conran via Oxfam
Bag – Internaçionale
Sunglasses – Moschino, via TK Maxx
Ring – family heirloom
This ring must be one of my most prized possessions, not because of the precious materials it is made of but because it used to belong to my Great Grandmother Laurinda, who then passed it on to my Grandmother Maria José who gave it to my Mother Dina along with the matching earrings a few years before my Mother passed away. When she died, it was one of the things I wanted to keep, as it had been with several generations, all of which I had met. Who knows if I will be passing it on to someone else? I would like to think so.
Am I overdoing it on the animated gifs? I have to say I’ve been having a lot of fun making them. The sandals are extremely comfortable. It was the first time I wore them outside (I picked them up in the middle of winter, as you can see here) and I was afraid they would pinch my feet, as my skin is very sensitive and gets blistered all to easily but I was glad that at least this once they didn’t hurt. Definitely keepers.
Hope you are having a nice weekend!

Welcome home 🙂 The moving pics are very cool so keep it up. And your Mom's ring…so pretty. How nice to carry a bit of your beloved family with you always.

I love that last photo – but I suspect that you are a different person now after your trip to Florida… Pamper yourself now, I agree with Sacramento!
