Before heading out to our destination for the day we stopped at Robbie’s in Islamorada to have breakfast, as recommended by our host. The place was a bit touristy but the food was good and plentiful and feeding the tarpon fish was a lot of fun. Also it was my first contact with the wildlife that fascinated me and seems to be everywhere.
I’m wearing my baby Holga on my neck- I bought it from Ebay some time ago but haven’t had the chance yet to try it out. What better than a holiday to do it, right? I also took a disposable camera along, as well as my regular camera with me. I just need to finish the film so I can get them all developed!
I love tacky hand painted signs and Florida is a paradise for them. However, I didn’t take that many photos as they are mostly on the roadside and we’d have to stop every few minutes. Bummer!
I had fresh coconut water for the first time, yay. When the guy was chopping up the coconut he asked me where I was from. I replied ‘Portugal’ and he said ‘Haaaa, so you must have grown up on coconuts’. I explained that he must be thinking of Brazil (where they speak Portuguese), that Portugal is in Europe and that the only place you can find some sort of coconut is in the supermarket. Then there was an awkward silence. I thought this interaction was extremely funny.
After filling our tummies we went back on the road on the Overseas Highway, which as you can see, is literally over the sea. Next stop: Key West!

Stunning photos. Again, makes me long for a tropical view with open horizons. I liked your mini gifs of feeding fish and the pelicans. They don't take much load time and they bring the scene to life.
I've been to Florida many times but never to Key West! I've always wanted to go! Someday I'll make it there…
