Remembrance of things past

July 5, 2012

Much like Proust’s madeleine, sometimes little things just go click in your head and bring back long forgotten memories. I was happily eating peanut butter M&M’s when I picked up a red one and it reminded me of something we used to do in primary school. Me and my friends, being the girly girls that we were, obviously wanted to imitate our mums but were not allowed to wear lipstick, of course. The solution? We discovered that by licking the red colouring on the candy’s shell we could then dab it on a our lips and pretend we were wearing real lippy! How silly were we?

Venho desejar-te um dia feliz e uma barrigada de M and M's, ou lá como se chamam essas tentações redondinhas e doces.

What a cute memory! I'm certain I did the same thing although I'd forgotten. I also stole into my older sister's bureau drawer and tried on her bra, stuffing it with tissue paper. 🙂

That is really cute. We used to pretend that our carrot sticks at lunch were cigarettes!

That's actually a really great idea. You discovered the first lip stain! When I was a kid before ear piercing came along we use to buy those little flower candies for cake decorating and lick and stick them to our earlobes.
