A few Saturdays ago I went to a birthday party for my friend Dani and it was my first party in a long time. Back in Lisbon I used to go out to have fun and dance every weekend (after all, Lisbon IS a party city), but here, not so much. I don’t like the nightlife in this town and none of the clubs plays music I could remotely enjoy dancing to. So I normally just stay home. However, this time I decided to venture out for dinner and a bit of drinking in a bar in Lincoln.
I wanted to wear something festive but as I was leaving the house in the middle of the afternoon and frankly, it wasn’t getting dark until 10 pm at night, I felt a little weird wearing something entirely for the night. I packed my make up and accessories in my vintage vanity case and got on the bus. I don’t know what happened with the buses but I ended up having to wait for an hour at the bus stop and suddenly it started chucking it down like there was no tomorrow. I got totally soaked but as the bus ride is quite long and it’s been quite warm an muggy most of the time I was totally dry by the time I got there.
We all got ready in the hotel apartment where some of our friends were staying and it was a lot of fun. Afterwards we went for dinner at the Grille, the restaurant at the White Hart hotel (one of the oldest hotels in Lincoln, where Tom Hanks stayed when they were filming the Da Vinci Code in the cathedral right next door). I have to say that the food was lovely but the service was absolutely appalling. It was so bad that I ended up only paying for a cocktail as they forgot mine and someone else’s food and everyone was given a massive discount. More money that I had left for a few cosmopolitans at the bar we went to afterwards, haha.

I was at a birthday party too. In a bar with an old ship theme. Under our feat beneath the floor there were lights and fish swimming around. No wonder I had to use the ladies room so often!
Your make-up looks great in the close up shot.
