2 years have gone.

August 3, 2012
? ?Paul Buchanan – My True Country? ?

It’s been 2 years since I moved to England. It’s been 2 years since I have called this country my home. Many times I think to myself if I am happy with this move, when something goes wrong. I then find that every time I ask the question the answer is yes, but with it also comes the sadness of feeling like I wouldn’t want to go back to my own country.

I also know now that my home will be somewhere else with the person I love. It doesn’t matter where you are, home is where your heart is, as they rightfully say. Regardless of all this, moving here has still been the best decision of my life and I know I will miss the UK and the friends I have made here when I am gone. Until then, I’ll make the most of it.

My true country far and wide
Cars along the river side

Far above the chimney tops
Take me where the bus don’t stop

In my true country got no past
Married in the photograph

Come to little piano dear
Love will wipe away your tears

Dance along the edge with me
and we’ll see as far as we can see

My true country wild and free
My true country You and me

Pushing horses in the soul
Children wearing sunday clothes

Dance along the edge with me
and we’ll go as far as we can see

My true country wild and free
My true country waiting there for me

    🙂
Beijinhos and carry on!

Very thoughtful – I know that feeling of sadness too. I wouldn't want to go back either. The things we do for love, huh? But to be fair, having lived here when I was at university, I knew I would be back again 🙂

Oh Sara. So sweet. I've lived in so many different places in my life (including England!) and I always leave a little bit of myself behind when I leave but I also bring a liitle something with me when I move on. England is lucky to have you for a while!

You're absolutely right – home is where the heart is. We've moved many times… never easy but what can you do?

    It's Love.

I don't know your history but I feel you! Although I haven't moved out of the U.S., I've moved a number of times to different places, different lives. Some of the decisions were excruciating but inevitable, and I've had no regrets. I still dream about past lives and possibilities, never to be reclaimed, but I prefer the present. Here's to a wonderful future for you.

I love to live in new places. I have moved a lot, not to different countries but to different cities and provinces here in Canada. It is so exciting to immerse yourself in a new place. And then I think it's just as exciting to leave and start fresh somewhere new. I feel that melancholy too though with each move. I love to revisit the places where I have lived and remember what it felt like to be there.
I'm excited for you to move to Florida because I think that we will meet there for margaritas on the beach! Can't wait!
