London

Crafty, for a change.

September 4, 2012

A couple of weeks back I was invited by Lilly to participate in a re-styling and crafting event in London. Even though I live a bit far it was well worth travelling for the day: I saw friends from Lisbon Teresa and João, which I hadn’t seen in a few years and had a lovely afternoon sitting with the girls, just chatting and making pretty things. It was a very nice afternoon, spent bonding over some of our mutual interests and also very inspiring to hear other people talking about their ideas and projects for the future. It is something I had been missing, hanging out with other creative people as we end up nurturing each other’s creativity.

The idea of the event was to alter something you already own that for some reason needs altering or sprucing up. I took a couple of projects to do that day: a white t-shirt and an old black skirt I was going to throw away but thought I could re-use the material (recycling is good!) and a pair of glittery loafers to add some big red pompoms to, as inspired by this. Amy from Dolls are United! was also there and was kind enough to snap some photos of me. You can also see Amy’s photos here.

Me and Lilly

The finished tee and a cardigan Lilly embellished.

The pompoms, halfway. I will have to show you the finished shoes some other time as I had to finish them back at home, there wasn’t enough time to do everything.

The heat was too much! I am glad I wore a strapless dress. It’s not like I have a lot of oportunities to wear these here anyway…
Details:
pearl headband – H&M
Dress – Wet Seal
Bag – Pylones
Tights – H&M
Shoes – Irregular Choice

Obviously I couldn’t wait to wear my t-shirt, so I wore it the next day to work:

Tadaaaa!!!

How fun to have friends to craft with! The tee shirt is very chic. And is that a watering can handbag? Wow. Way cute, comme toujours.

Que giro, tenho uma mala “regador” igual à tua, mas em preto :)) Já não a uso há muito tempo e agora fiquei com saudades, tenho que voltar a usá-la, é muito fofa ;)**

Wow, love this big black flowers on the white tee. That's a great idea really. I bought some of Megan's button flowers and have yet to narrow down what I want to do with them. You look fantastic in the little hotpants too. 😉 That's what we called em' back in the late 60's.
