A Friday afternoon in Newark

September 12, 2012

A couple of weeks ago my friend Ben picked me up from work and took me to Newark for a drink. Newark is a market town near where I work and I had been there before but only on short visits at lunchtime. This time I got to explore other areas of the town I had never seen before, particularly the river front. I didn’t have my camera on me so all of these were taken with my phone. I hope you enjoy them regardless.

I wasn’t aware of this but there is a small castle in ruins.
This is a Victorian replica of an older building.

I loved all the beautiful and colourful flowers! They always catch my eye.
I also keep an eye out for old painted signs. I always like to imagine how would it be to see those same walls around the time the signs were freshly painted.

And of course, the outfit photo.
Head scarf – Thrifted in Florida

You look lovely! It's Autumn now and I am happy to see always colours from you posts. When I was in Europe during Autumn or Winter, people are dominated by black and grey. Your little bunny ears are cute. I tried to tie a scarf around but it slides off all the time.
Thank you so much for adding me to your blogroll. It's such an honor.

    Have a nice day!

I love your flirty short dress with those candy apple red tights! Old castles are so romantic – I always wonder who lived there. Probably their lives were not as romantic as I imagine, especially without central heating.

You look very cute, there. Love those shoes! I am always worried wearing skirts that are shorter and full that the wind will take ahold of them (due to a recent traumatizing event). Having a pair of tights is a good way to keep the potential incident to be less skin baring, though.

What a beautiful town, too! Love that old castle. I wish there were more pretty and historic places around here to photograph. We've got lots of nature, but not much for old buildings.
