Little Miss Sunshine, or the hunt for the red cowboy boots.

September 24, 2012
Ever since I saw the film Little Miss Sunshine the year it came out (2006) the little red cowboy boots got stuck in my head. Look at Abigail Breslin being a cutie and wearing them:
Cool stuff right? Never mind that she’s like, 9 or something. The boots looked amazing to me and being a red shoe addict I knew that one day I’d have to have a pair of them.
I had been looking all over – vintage stores in America, Amsterdam, Ebay, you name it… but nothing was available. Until the weekend I spent in Brighton, that is. I was walking along one of the streets and looking at the shop windows of all the vintage shops they’ve got there and there they were. the next day I went back and asked what was the size. Surprisingly they fit! A snug fit, but a fit nonetheless. The guy in the shop told me they had been in the shop for a year and they never fit anyone. I was the lucky one it seems! They’re a bit beaten up but I do think that adds some charm to them, as they’re good quality, real leather boots.
They are perfect for relaxed days out running errands:
I wore them with
Sunglasses – YSL
Shirt- Men’s flannel shirt from Primark
Tshirt – Bruce Springsteen , H&M
Jersey Skirt – H&M
Tights – Primark
Do you have any item you have been trying to find for years?

They look fabulous! Just shows, if you wait and keep looking, you'll find it!
I have all sorts of things on my wish-and-look-for list… Tan knee high boots, a big vintage tapestry bag, that kind of thing. Finding what you want is one thing, finding it at the right price is another!
I love Little Miss Sunshine, brilliant film. xxx

I'd say the boots were worth the wait. At last! I was kicking myself for not buying a pair of my favourite black pointy-toe shoes in white, retail, and then I strolled into a vintage shop and there they were – in my size!

Adoro esse filme! <3 E as botas são um máximo.
Desde que vi o Resident Evil que ando louca por uma parka verde tropa com pêlo, mas ainda não encontrei a certa. tenho de continuar à procura.

How wonderful! Gorgeous boots, lucky find. I tell a cowboy-boot-quest story in my latest post too. 🙂

It took me years to find suitable prescription sunglasses. I continue to seek bolero sweaters / shrugs, and crinolines, which are plentiful in other parts of the world, but not here, and I've made it through yet another summer without finding good-quality, substantial, STYLISH walkable sandals! Haven't liked anything I've seen in person, and can't order online due to footbed fit issues and draconian shipping / customs / returns policies.

Well worth the wait, you look brilliant! Funnily enough I've been after some leopard fake fur platforms for years and I scored some on eBay last night! Can't wait to get my mitts on them! xxx

You're like Cinderella. The shoes fit! Now all you need is a pumpkin coach.

    Yay, red cowboy boots!
I was just wondering recently why I don't have a pair of bright red shoes…
My favorite boots are my cherry Doc's and I thought about buying them for many years before I actually got them.
