Black and red.

October 15, 2012

I know I said I would rather post inspirational things on my Fakebook page but every so often there will be something that will make you change your mind. I don’t normally write much about fashion but every so often I find something that tickles my imagination and I must say something about it!

So… How brilliant is Pam Hoggs AW 2012-2013 collection? I have found myself marveling over the whole thing, the colours, the silhouettes… even the Frida Kahlo style unibrow!

This is a very graphic and somewhat futuristic collection and I can imagine a lot of the shapes and patterns printed on canvases and hanging on a wall. Not only that but the colour scheme is very appealing to me- red and black mostly, with some metalics and whites thrown in for good measure.

Watch the whole runway show here:

I really like the idea of the catsuits (maybe not the merkin one so much though), but I do like the almost bondage feel they have to them. The thought of a clingy and body hugging catsuit like that seems very appealing and comfortable, particularly in the cold months ahead. Not sure if it would be something very flattering on my thunder thighs, but a girl can dream, right? Not all of us have been graced with long spindly legs but that shouldn’t stop us from wearing what we feel like, me thinks. Nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel like a super hero!

(all photos blatantly stolen from Vogue)

The whole thing has a punk and fetish vibe to it I find quite attractive (a result of too many years frequenting goth clubs, I guess). The footwear is also marvelously sexy and I can’t resist a good pair of high patent leather boots (remember these?). You can tell by the way some of the models walk that those boots weren’t really made for walking but they were certainly made for looking and making you feel fabulous.

Although this collection did capture my imagination, don’t expect any half naked outfit posts anytime soon haha. What are your thoughts on it?

I did put an outfit together that was somewhat inspired by this, mainly the colour scheme and the patent leather:

Coat – Liz Claiborne via Oxfam
Dress – Marks & Spencer, via car boot sale
Long sleeved t-shirt – Primark
Necklace – Primark
Boots – Dr Martens, via Ebay

Hope you have a great week!

Well, Joni is right, your version is way more realistic and wearable! Black and red are such a classic combination yet very dramatic too.
I do like the catwalk designs, they are statement pieces which meant to be provocative, of course, hardly everyday wear! But the silhouettes and the stylised drama of the looks are fabulous! xxx
