The week in photos

November 4, 2012

Here we go for the usual weekly roundup of instagram photos. This time there are loads to post as I spent last week in New York! Sadly as you all know, there was a hurricane and for that reason many of the plans I had were cancelled but I was very lucky as none of the places where I stayed had flooded or was destroyed. Despite having been indoors for virtually 3 days waiting for the storm to subside, I still managed to do and see a lot of things in the remaining time. I will post some more of these tomorrow as to not bore you with loads of photos all at once.

I also took many photos with my proper camera and will start posting those soon.
What I was reading on the flight. Very funny.
Mosaic from a subway station.
Halloween decorations in our building
The city is always growing vertically
The City Hall
Waiting for copies of our marriage certificate…
The entrance to this building looked like a circus tent
The hubby thought this was very silly. I got it anyway!
my subway station in Brooklyn
A lovely sushi meal Mr D and I had on our last night together in NYC. We decided to try a bottle of plum wine with it. Oh boy!
Cotton candy salesman on the subway station.
I took Mr D to the airport on Sunday. It was windy already by then. This one was taken at Howard beach, near JFK airport.
Broadway Junction station
The last subway ride before the hurricane.
On my way back from the airport I saw this. very appropriate. Needless to say that I have added JFK Airport to the “list of airports where I have cried”.
When I went home I had to go to the supermarket and stocked up on supplies to last me for a few days.
The storm was brewing
That day I think we all prayed to Our Lady of Guadeloupe
I got myself some pink pretzels to cheer me up.
Sitting in my room, waiting for Sandy.
When Sandy hit the hardest. It was kinda scary.
The day after the sun showed itself timidly for a few minutes.
The after the storm photos will come tomorrow.

Your photos are always so creative, I feel like I've been in a movie while I've visited here. Did you see that Sheila at Ephemera bought the cat socks today? She posted them on her blog. Too funny, I was out trying to find her the same socks today but couldn't find any.
They're made by Sock It To Me. I bet you could find them on line somewhere. And I use to have that same poster in my kitchen several years back.
    In fact, here they are:
