My Daily Morning Routine

I don’t think I’ve ever done a post about what beauty products I usually use in the morning, so I think this is a good time as any other. As you can see on the picture below, there’s a good variety of products – but trust me, there’s loads more where those came from. Recently I was having a conversation with a good friend, she says that it seems that the plethora of products, potions and powders only tends to increase. I find that to be true, not sure if a consequence of getting older and being more interested in makeup than I was when I was younger. Maybe I feel the need to disguise imperfections a bit more, maybe I’m more permeable to product adverts or look books, who knows. The fact is, I don’t like getting out of the house without some makeup on (although I do that on occasion, as sometimes going to the office doesn’t register as worthy of that effort every day), As such, here’s a glimpse into my beauty routine.

Moisturiser (not pictured) –  This is something that I really never can do without. As skin ages, it gets drier and less elastic, so a good dab of moisturiser every day right after showering is what I need to face the day, preferably with some SPF.

Dry Shampoo (this one c/o of Batiste) – Since I’ve started growing my hair I’ve finally realised how useful dry shampoo can be, as I don’t really want to wash my hair every day. This particular variety by Batiste ensures that you get more volume, and it really does the trick.

Primer – I have also recently converted to the amazingness of primer. I tend to avoid wearing foundation or compact powder on weekdays as they tend to get all caked and disgusting on my nose because I wear glasses mostly at work… However, when I put some on, I find that even the concealer seems to look a lot better on. The primer on the photo is by Smashbox and I also use the Urban Decay Primer Potion on my lids and have been using that for years.

Blusher –  I may be guilty of overdoing this a bit, but I always feel a bit out of character if I don’t put some blusher on my cheeks. The one on the photo is from H&M, that I realised is a little bit too red but I still think looks so pretty!

Mascara – Even when I don’t wear eyeliner (a rare happening, tbf), I always put on some mascara. I naturally have quite long eyelashes so I don’t really need a lot of it. The one on the photo is from Body Shop and I think I got it a sample from a magazine. I don’t have a specific favourite.

Eyeliner – A staple in my makeup bag, you will rarely see me without a little flicker of black on my eyes. I don’t like the brush ones as I find the lines difficult to control. The one in the photo is High Drama bySeventeen at Boots, if I’m not mistaken. This is the kind of product you don’t have to spend a lot of money on in my opinion, as the regular budget brands will be good enough.

Eyebrow fix – Having eyebrows that are dark and plentiful can be a pain in the arse as they will require some taming on occasion. The MAC coloured eyebrow fix in the photo is a good one as it will add extra definition to the brows. I also use a clear one, that kind of works as if you were gelling down your hair.

Lipstick – Usually red. The one in the photo is actually a MAC red Lipglass, which has a thick and sticky texture and stays on for longer than regular lip glosses.

Concealer – Being the proud owner of permanent dark circles, I don’t usually fail on putting some of this on. The one you see in the photo is the illuminating touch pen by Paul & Joe Beaute.

Eyeshadow – Most times I will wear something light, and will dab a bit of white around the tear ducts as that helps brighten up the eyes. In the photo I have an eyeshadow duo by MAC.

Perfume – A whiff of perfume is always important. In the photo, Moschino Cheap and Chic, which was a giflt from my stepfather.

Hairspray – In the battle against fly-aways, I like spraying some Elnett to finish off a hairdo.

I think I didn’t miss out on anything. These are, at least, the things I use on a daily basis. What about you? Do you wear anything different?
