August is now done and dusted. The last month of Summer (or rather, the last month when we are allowed have an expectation of decent weather) has been quite busy, with events and social gatherings around town. It’s always a good thing because, in the Summer, you want to go out, stay out and make the most out of the rays of sunlight.

Thought I’d use these photos that Jackie did of me the other week but didn’t get used in the Uniqlo post

One such afternoon I went to London Fields with friends and ended up trying cricket ice cream. I kid you not! I made a little video of it:

I also attended Sol Invictus’ show London in the Rain and made a couple of videos. Here’s one of them, with one of my favourite songs. These videos are also important for another reason… I now realised how to make videos with my DSLR… which means I may end up making a few from now on.

Best relationship advice I’ve read in a long time. “Why would you ever be excited to be with someone who is not excited to be with you?”. It’s either “Fuck yes!” or “No“.

My friend Ross Newton is a very talented musician, and he has a new website. Check out his music and by the way, I made his photos! I am really pleased with the way they turned out.

One Art
BY ELIZABETH BISHOP
The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.

—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.

Nina Simone tells us what is freedom for her. I think it’s a very good definition.

Cricket ice cream? That’s one way to get your protein. I love your compilation. Why did they ever close Biba? Best store ever!

It was strangely OK. I didn’t die of total disgust and was surprised by that fact.
Biba should still exist. I know they’re making more clothes under the brand name but it’s not the same thing.
