A few weeks back I was once again invited by Currys to participate in a really cool event – the screening of Mean Girls on a barge, floating through one of London’s canals. I had no idea such thing actually existed (the Floating Cinema, not the canals!).
So we met at the Joe Blogs headquarters and headed down to the canal around King’s Cross.
I took the opportunity to do some dog stalking…
We were greeted with glasses of bubbly and shown around the Floating Cinema barge. This was a special project that was started and designed by Duggan Morris Architect and it’s basically a barge that has been transformed into a cinema. It fits 12 people for screenings and it’s such a great idea, as you can rent it for private parties or screenings. When I become a famous blogger and make the big bucks (ya, right) I’ll have my birthday party on it!
So a group of us bloggers had fun sipping our drinks, eating popcorn and sweeties and having a good laugh with Mean Girls. It’s that kind of film that although it wasn’t my thing growing up (I’m more of the Pretty in Pink generation, showing my age right here!), it’s always a fun watch and the jokes are as relatable as always.
As the film reached the end, we all came outside to stretch our legs and appreciate the fact that we were actually moving around. Went through a lock and it was interesting to see how it all works. It was fascinating and we all talked about how lovely it must be to live on a boat, although we would all have to ditch our shoe and clothes collections – living on a boat is not for collectors such as myself, I would say.
I had a lovely time as always, and for the first time won the Twitter competition, that Joe Blogs always have at their events! My pun skills are getting better yay! This was after I complained that I had difficulty, being a non-native English speaker. Serves me right and next time I’ll keep my mouth shut. Ha! Here’s the winning tweet:
Watching Mean Girls on a barge on the canal – impossible to get a-bored. (Sorry 😳) #currysmovienight @curryspcworld

All in all, a wonderful afternoon out. Thank you Currys and Joe Blogs for the invite!
