Madrid Fashion Week Street Style by Sol Jaureguibeitia

February 21, 2014

Madrid Fashion Week AW 2014

Sol Jaureguibeitia is a talented photographer and stylist who divides her time between London and Madrid. She has recently been to the Madrid Fashion Week and shot a few street style looks for us. As she says, people in Spain are a bit more conservative (much like my home country Portugal), so it is interesting to see the difference if you compare it with London style. You can find more street style as well as commercial, editorial and catwalk photography at Sol’s website.

Which one is your favourite?

London

Around Camden Town

December 23, 2013

One of my favourite things to do is walking around an area I don’t particularly know, with a camera in hand. It’s an exercise best done alone, as all the stopping for photographs can become quite annoying for anyone hanging out with you. I don’t get the chance to do this all that often but when I do, I make the most of it. These were taken on my last visit to London, when I attended the ASOS Social School event. I walked from King’s cross station to where their offices are located and then a bit around Camden. Later on I met with my beautiful friend Jayne of Jayne’s Kitschen -we had dinner together, a couple of drinks and took some cool photos with my Instax camera. I was really tired by the end of the day but it was well worth it! I hope you enjoy the details that caught my eye on that day.

Behind the scenes

May 22, 2013

Last Sunday I got together with friends and photographer David Bridle for a little photoshoot. We wanted to dress up and David was up for something a little different so we were all quite happy to spend a morning having fun with photos and clothes!

I wanted to try picking clothes for other people – I normally only pick clothes for myself and with the help of Debbie from The Boutique, we came up with a few outfits we all all liked. Daniela chose the 80’s Madonna look for a bit of fun, Filipa wanted to try a few different things she might want to incorporate in her every day style and the clothes available at Debbie’s shop inspired me to put a couple of Frida Kahlo inspired outfits together.

Here are a few behind the scenes photos we took, I will be sharing the actual photos very soon. I hope you like them!

I hope you liked this little preview, I need to thank David for taking the photos, Debbie for so graciously lending the clothes from her shop and my friends for letting me dress them up. Don’t forget to check out David’s page and if you live in Grantham swing by Debbie’s little shop The Boutique at the Guildhall Street.

Brussels

April 17, 2013

As I may have mentioned previously, I went to Brussels in the beginning of March for a long weekend to visit my good friend Oh La Lali as I hadn’t seen her in over a year. I have loads of photos to post but as the blog was down for over 2 weeks they are now long overdue. I will be splitting the photos in several posts so I don’t bore you too much with a lot of scrolling. The photos I am posting today are just a few details that caught my eye as soon as I got there.

I was very curious to go to Belgium as I had been there exactly 20 years ago, back in 1993. I was curious to see what I still remembered, what I could see had changed and how I would be seeing it now. Seeing it through the eyes of a 15 year old is a totally different thing isn’t it?

A lot of people cycle everywhere. One day I’ll be able to say the same.

There are LOADS of Portuguese immigrants in Belgium. In this particular area, there are also a lot of Portuguese cafes and restaurants.

A very funky window display – Kali Ma and Cateye Tree

Knock, the doorbell is defective.

Nothing like a bit of symmetry.

Where is Snow White?

Tomorrow I will be attending a fashion magazine’s forum. I am very curious to see if I will learn anything useful from it. If not, I am sure that at least me and the girls will be having a laugh on our little road trip there.

Madchester part 2

April 3, 2013

Part 2 of last Saturday’s adventure in Manchester! I hope you enjoy it.

Funny how simple things like splashes of neon colour can be so inspiring and eye catching!

Who knew that rats could play music?

I would never go on that ride. I’m brave but I have my limits!

Details of what I wore: Skirt and Jacket – H&M, via Ebay, Stripy turtleneck – Zara, Stripy Cardi and Piano scarf – H&M, Shoes – Office via Ebay, Bag – Target, Half gloves – Ebay, Brooch – Vintage, from the vintage market in Brussels (I still need to post those photos!)

Here are the photos of the main attraction of the trip (for me at least). this is an exhibition of photographs by Kevin Cummins of Morrissey and The Smiths, throughout the years. Perfect for someone like me who loves Morrissey and the Smiths since I was a wee kid. You can still see it until the end of this week, more details here. I wish I had some money lying around to buy some copies! I had to make do with the exhibition poster, which I will have framed for my future apartment.

After all this we were freezing and just took refuge at the train station, to have a hot drink and make time for our train back. It was a lovely day out. Next week I will be visiting Curtise of The Second Hand Years in Sheffield and I can’t wait!
