Save the blow dry!

November 29, 2013

As I’ve been growing my hair, I have also been trying to avoid my bad habit of washing it everyday. That means that every other day I have to use a shower cap. The shower caps I’ve had before were crap, if I’m honest. The previous one lost its elasticity and the one I bought after that is really cute as it is black with red hearts on it but it fails to protect my whole head. That means I still have to waste time in the morning using the blow dryer to dry the hair around the ears and the neck. Not fun.

I was sent the Save The Blow Dry shower cap because I was in desperate need of a new one, so I thought I’d give it a chance. I am glad I did because it does cover my whole hair and has plenty of room for more, which will happen as my hair grows. The elastic is very comfortable, as the cap is lined with cotton towel fabric. It is totally waterproof and really cute! I was also surprised to see that it can also be used in reverse, if you need to do some kind of treatment on your hair that needs covering.

The one con I can see with it is that the fabric gets a bit wet on the edges and in a bathroom like mine it might take a bit to dry out. I hope it doesn’t get mouldy.

I like the vintage feel of the packaging and the fact that it matches perfectly the Hello Kitty towel sent to me by Vix (Vix knows what I like). Bath time has never been so good and makes me feel like an Old Hollywood star!

PS: A complimentary shower cap was sent to be by Save the Blow Dry for review purposes, no payment was received. Opinions expressed are my own. As well as the bad photos. I hope you liked this post as I had a lot of fun putting it together, infomercial style!

Witching around

November 18, 2013

One of my current TV loves is undoubtedly American Horror Story Coven. I would venture to say that in my opinion, this has been the best season of the series so far. Too bad that it’ll be the last…

As I love the styling in the series, I thought I’d bring out the items in my closet that resemble the outfits on TV and had me some fun in the dark!

“What was that sound?”

What I wore: Floppy hat : H&M (also seen here), Dress – Vintage Jaeger, from a charity shop (also seen here), Boots – Office (via Ebay).

I’m adding the outfit to Patti’s Visible Monday!

Jump for Joy

September 23, 2013

I must say I have been having a few reasons to jump for joy lately. One of them being my new job – I’m loving it! I am now working in marketing and it is so much more interesting and challenging than my previous position. I can say I have learned a lot in my first week and hopefully I will be able to put it to practice in this little corner of mine, given time and energy. Other than that, I have been to London on Saturday to meet with the ever fabulous Suzanne from Mon Idee Fixe. More on that to come during the week!

The Summer has now come to an end sadly, but I still have some sunny outfits to share, one of them being this one:

Details: Head Scarf – vintage souvenir scarf from Rome, thrifted in Florida, T-shirt – Band tee from Los Campesinos (although they don’t seem to have it anymore). It is a joke on the classic Andy Warhol banana design for the Velvet Underground cover. Mustard Bolero – H&M (thrifted), Skirt – H&M (via Ebay), Heart Bracelet – H&M (from one of my trips to NYC), Sunnies – Pucci, Jelly Sandals– Coach (both via TK Maxx)

I’m joining all the lovely ladies over at Patti’s Visible Monday. Won’t you pay them a visit?

Central Europe Vintage

August 23, 2013

I bought both dress and belt in Brussels when I was there a few months ago. I swear I nearly squealed when I saw the belt, it’s not only unusual but also in my favourite colour combo.  I am not sure of the decade of the dress but I suspect it’s either the 60’s or the 70’s. The belt is most definitely from the 60’s. The shoes are from Topshop and I bought them years ago when I visited the UK just a few months before moving here.

As I still have a lot of photos from my visit to Belgium to share, this is the perfect excuse to show a few I took on the day I bought these items. These were taken in Brussels when we went for a stroll at the Quartier des Marolles, a neighbourhood filled with vintage and quirky shops with a lot of fun street art to look at.
