With My Week of Beauty under way, today it is time to talk about the new salon and treatments I’ve tried last Saturday.

I headed down to Marble Arch in Central London for a great treat – a morning of pampering and beautification  at the Beauty & Melody salon. I was super excited about the good things that I knew was in for at the day and for good reason! Nothing beats spending a good few hours at the salon, being looked after and going out feeling re-energized by having your hair done and your skin cleared and looking glowing! (plus the feeling of freshly cut dyed and cut hair is amazing).

I got the devil’s haircut in my mind

April 14, 2013

Nothing better to lift my spirits sometimes than a visit to the salon. Mine was overdue – I had 2 inch dark brown roots showing and was in dire need of a little trim, even though I am currently growing my hair. Although I like a little hair DIY myself, nothing like the hands of a professional to get my hair just the way I would like it to be all the time. This is all very nice but it only stays as it should for a fleeting moment- as soon as I wash my hair, it will go back to it’s usual kinks and silly ways. Who has time to use the straighteners every morning before work? I know I don’t. Anyway, I wish I could afford to go to the hairdresser more often as it is a lovely feeling, to have nicely styled hair. I met with my friends afterwards and Filipa was kind enough to snap a couple of photos for posterity.

Les Deets: Coat – H&M Trend, via Ebay, Dress – H&M Trend, Shoes – Carvella, via TK Maxx, Bag – Target, Glove Purse – Martin Margiella for H&M.

I love the print on this dress, with the hidden angry black cats!

I went around gallivanting in town, I was looking for some bracelets to do a DIY project and ended up buying a couple more little things from the charity shops.

Michael Ambers blazer from RSPCA, Jane Norman gold cardi from Age UK, accessories and deer from British Heart Foundation.

I’ve never done it before but I am linking this post to Patti’s Visible Monday as I think it’s about time.

Week in photos

April 14, 2013

Same old same old, another week blah blah, follow me on Instagram under the handle @hellothemushroom

A bit of relaxation. It’s not every day that I can sit at a cafe and have a chai latte.

This week I had a multicoloured mani on. The bee ring was a present from my friends in Portugal. Musical dress from Nishe (via Ebay) and Doc Martens shoes I got from Paige.  I love the high heeled loafers and discovered they give me a bit of a wiggle. Embrace the wiggle!

Thursday I went to the Pitcher & Piano, a bar in Nottingham located inside a church. Rude additions to a traffic sign.

Dress from Zara, ring was a present at work. Little black bird, hiding.

Watched the documentary “Searching For Sugar Man”, I definitely recommend it. These flowers were left at Margaret Thatcher’s birthplace which is close to where I live.

I finally got my hair done. TV Shop style – “Are you sick of having bad hair days? A dull colour on your hair? Suffer no more and pop round your local salon!”

Before, during and after:

I went out last night, Filipa has been promoted and we went for celebratory drinks as we should. I wore the heel-less heels from Jeffrey Campbell and I am happy to report that even after two glasses of wine I didn’t fall over and no legs were broken. Daniela was also wearing some very sexy heels from Topshop!

Nothing much else to report. Hope you are having a lovely Sunday!
