Disposable Style

November 4, 2013

I was just looking at my files and I still have a gazillion outfits to share and found these photos taken with a disposable camera. I like the way they look, I should do this more often.

This outfit was baptized ‘The Metallina’, as it is a mix of heavy metal with ballerina. I love that skirt, I wish the button hadn’t popped that day. I have to wear it with a safety pin as it’s too tight now LOL. Leather panel skirt, Office ballerinas, Judas Priest t-shirt, Denim Jacket (customized by me) and Claw Ring all from Ebay.

On this day I was wearing : Cosmic Cat tee – from the men’s section at Target (from one of my trips to Florida), Leopard Print Skirt -Ebay, Shoes – Dune (TK Maxx), Headscarf – Zara, Sunnies – Moschino, Pleather Jacket – H&M

Here I am, drinking a can of liquid cellulitis (aka a can of full fat cola) and trying to do a jumping photo but failing miserably. Headscarf  and jacket are the same as before, Dress – I forget the brand but I got it from someone’s blog sale, Tights -Ebay, Shoes – Vans Hello Kitty, Bag – from a swap with my friend Lili.

And as always, it begs the question: which one is your favourite?

Adding this to Visible Monday over at Patti’s!

Edit: Added to Jane’s Shiny T Tuesday!

A weekend where Robin Hood used to dwell

June 28, 2013

Last weekend was a really busy one. I now find myself wishing for a weekend spent at home, with no commitments of any sort. Not that I’m complaining but I need some relaxation every now and then (who doesn’t?).

It all started on the Friday, as I headed to Nottingham to meet my friend Ben and work with him on the social media and blogging aspects of his developing business Sushi Night Fever. I gave him my two cents and I am very curious where he will take them. I wish I could do this for a living.

Anyway, as I had to wait for an hour at the train station, I was feeling increasingly restless and bored. For some good 10 minutes I was by myself in the waiting room at the train station -that’s when I decided to take my outfit photos right there.

“Yes, I’m on my way!”

Details : Dress – Vintage, from a second hand shop in Brussels, Tights – Primark, Shoes – Office (via Ebay), Necklace – Hello Kitty at Sephora, Black hair Bow – Dorothy Perkins (on sale)

The Sun graced us for a few minutes here and there. Better than nothing I suppose. Too bad I didn’t get to see the Solstice sunset though.

Girls out on a hen night.

That day we went to the movies and watched Behind the Candelabra. I wore a very suiting outfit, as a (very humble) homage to Liberace’s flamboyance. I pale in comparison with his glittery suits covered in Swarovski  crystals. I really enjoyed the film, not only the actor’s performances were amazing but also touched on the very current theme of gay marriage and partner’s rights.

Details: Silk and golden thread dress – Vintage (80’s, maybe?), thrifted from Salvation Army on my most recent trip to Florida, Tights – H&M, Gold Shoes – Office (via Ebay), Necklace – Hello Kitty for Sephora, Black Hair Bow – Dorothy Perkins (on sale)

Hope you had a lovely week!

Bad taste

April 12, 2013

Do you know John Waters? If you know his films you will know he’s totally nuts (but in a good way). His most famous films are Hairspray, Cry Baby and his most infamous film is probably Pink Flamingos, starring the fabulous Divine. I’ve been after his films for a few years now and I’ve seen quite a few. Trust me, some of them are not for the faint hearted. But I love them, regardless.

This brings me to the purpose of this post: I’ve been reading the book “Shock Value – A Tasteful Book about Bad Taste”. Perfect title, right? I read this every morning on my commute to work and it really makes me chuckle (in public!). The book is autobiographical and outrageously funny. He describes what he and his friends used to do for fun, which included parading around in drag, shocking ‘regular people’, making crazy low budget films, shoplifting… And lots of drugs.

Anyhoo,he was raised a catholic and some of my favourite tirades in the book focus on how his catholic upbringing influenced him in wanting to rebel and be different – he would always try to do the exact opposite the nuns in his school told him to. I can very much relate to that as I was raised in a fairly strict catholic all girls school, complete with uniform in a country where wearing a uniform to school is not the norm (unlike England). Not that I would cause much trouble, but my interests and tastes have always been a bit out of left field, sometimes just for the sake of not buying into what I didn’t agree with or believed in. Maybe that’s why even today I have trouble conforming to what’s appropriate or the norm (boring!).

“Being Catholic always makes you more theatrical”, he says on page 65. I agree and to prove it, here’s something I wore to the office.

Thanks again to Frankie for taking the photos with my phone on the parking lot at work.

Details: Fur collar – ASOS (on sale), Bag – Victoria Couture for Hello Kitty, Jacket – Miu Miu, Skirt – ASOS (all three via Ebay), Shoes – Zara, many years ago. I don’t remember what I wore under the jacket anymore. Boo!
