Meet and Greet – Paige Joanna Calvert

February 27, 2013

It’s now time for another Meet and Greet post! It’s late but better late than never! this time I am featuring another illustrator, whom you’ve met before on this page as she modeled for Mod Dolly’s Spring Collection. As she is not only a pretty face but also a very talented illustrator, I asked her for a little interview and she said yes!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a wedding dress maker or a fashion designer, but when I was really young I wanted to be a princess.

When did you decide or realize you wanted to be an illustator?
It was in my second year of college when I was on a fashion Design course, I realized all I did was draw and loved the designing process and fashion illustrations. So that’s when I realized I would take that further.

What was the most satisfying project you’ve done so far?
Today was the launch of Mod Dolly and Paige Joanna collection, and working with Amy was one of the best things I have done!! Work experience in London was amazing as well!

Who or what are you main influences?
I am so inpired by many people from fashion designers to illustrators and films. If I had to pin point a couple of people then I would say Eduardo Recife and izziyiana suhaimi.

What inspires you to create?
When I am happy, and in the summer I am more likely to be productive!! Listening to relaxing music also helps!

Any favourite artists?
Like above, Eduardo Recife and Izziyiana Suhaimi.

Have you ever seen a work of art that changed your life? If so, which and why?
Nothing really comes to mind, but I remember seeing work by ‘the white derr’ when I first started getting into illustration and being so envious because I wanted to be like her!!

What made you start your blog?
I was already posting on lookbook, and decided blogging was a better way to get creative and share a part of my self with others that I want to.

What are your objectives for the future?
I hope to move in with my boyfriend this year and continue blogging and working as much as possible, mainly I just want to be at full health!!

Are you involved in any interesting project at the moment?
At the moment I have a few small things going on, but mainly just doing a lot of uni work!!

What is your favourite illustration technique and why?
I love using water colours but lately I am working a lot on photoshop drawing with my graphics tablet. I think that is where I am most comfortable now!
