Red is vibrant and full of life, it is the colour of blood, cherries and rubies. A scarlet clad woman is alluring and exudes confidence. It’s not a colour for the shy and whoever wears it doesn’t go unnoticed.
In this outfit, it is combined with navy, so it’s only seen in small accents but still, no less important. Details: Dress – Kling, Headscarf – New Look, Tights – H&M, Shoes – Irregular Choice
I’m joining Sacramento, Rosy and Peggy Sue for the#bloggershareinstyle link party, won’t you join us there too?
During my latest visit to Sheffield, where I met the amazing blogger gals, we visited Loulou’s Vintage Market and purchased three dresses. As a few people demanded to see them and I do as I am told, here they are.
Dress – Vintage 60’s, Tights – Kohls (cost me a fortune: 80 cents of a dollar), Feminist brooch – Hannah Zakari, Shoes – Irregular Choice (via Ebay)
Dress: Vintage, Cardigan – Zara, Tights – forget the name, got them from TK Maxx, Shoes – Irregular Choice (via Ebay)
Dress – Vintage, Tights – don’t remember anymore, Jacket – French Navy surplus (from some shop in Camden back in the 90’s, when my love affair with sailor collars and all things nautical started), Shoes – Pink Bitches by Irregular Choice (via Ebay)
And of course, I have to ask: which one is your favourite?
I was sent this gorgeous retro style red dress by Sammy Dress for a review, and I have to say that it is really pretty! I’m somewhat disappointed that it’s a little bit too big on the bodice, I’m not sure now if I took the proper measurements but I can always take it in a little. It’s a light cotton fabric but with some body to it, so that the dress looks sturdy enough. It’s got short sleeves, so it’s perfect for a Summer garden party or a lindy hop dance contest. As you can see, it can also be styled with a little cardigan or shrug, when it’s a little bit chilly (which was the case).
I wore it with a vintage tulle petticoat underneath that I already had, so it’s not included in the dress. It does come with a little black belt though. The cardigan is from H&M but I thrifted it a while ago. The shoes are Irregular Choice, via Ebay, the necklace is from Pull and Bear and I got it during my latest visit to Lisbon. I like it that it’s mock coral but it kind of looks a bit like chilies. Hot!
Happy middle of the week AKA Wednesday. In my case, Wednesday must be the new Friday as I am having Thursday and Friday off. As next Monday is a bank holiday, hello super long weekend!
Today I have an outfit to show you. My friend David took these photos the other week when he was visiting and I think they look pretty good. I’m wearing one of my favourite colour combos – red and blue. The boots don’t get enough wear for their awesomeness. They’re like the boots a glam rock super hero would wear, don’t you think?
Details: Headscarf – New Look, Skirt and Tights – H&M, Shirt – Ralph Lauren, Cape Coat and Cardigan – Zara, Bag – Ahcahcum Muchacha, Boots – Irregular Choice, Necklace – c/o Name The Necklace
The task: to recreate one of Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic looks. I felt inspired and I picked the one in the middle as it immediately made me think of the red dress I have in my closet, that doesn’t get enough love – somehow it feels too grand for work… This is for an ASOS competition, to signal the release of the new Yves Saint Laurent biographical film. I’m quite excited about it… I watched L’Amour Fou recently, a documentary film about the relationship between Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge. It’s an emotional film, very touching even and was a very good insight into the personality and life of the Designer. This one, with all the costume recreation promises to be if nothing else, a feast for the fashion and style hungry eyes.
I got together with Filipa and we went round St Wulfram’s (the local church) to do some photos and freeze our asses off. I should have really worn a coat out. The things one does for art… and a nice competition.
I decided to wear sneakers, because, you know. They’re comfier and all that. Plus I wanted to dress it down a little. I didn’t want to look like I was heading to the ballet or something…
Outfit details – Dress – H&M (from Ebay), Gloves – from Ebay (got them for the office Xmas party outfit) , Shoes – House of Holland x Superga, Fascinator thingy – Poundland (cheap!)
Ok, this is getting silly now… Just watch the trailer if you’re curious about the film.
I’m joining the ladies over at Visible Monday as it’s been too long since I’ve done it, no?
