Care Bears

Care Bears

And I am back! After being extremely poorly for a couple of weeks (trust me you’ll want to be spared the details) which culminated in a blogging absence, I am now back. I have a lot of new things to show you and I may even have a couple of extra posts this week, as I missed out on some work I should have done last week. Thank you so much to all of you who messaged me and were concerned – it means a lot! You know who you are, special props to all of you from the bottom of my heart. You are real life Care Bears.

Care Bears

To prove that I am feeling much better, I am posting the photos Filipa took this last Saturday, when we went out for a spot of shopping in town. I had a Matalan gift voucher to use and some extra discounts to use, so I went along. And I failed on my objective to not buy stuff. But… I did use the voucher and the discount and as soon as I got home, I filled another big bag with clothes to donate. Trust me, I’m getting rid of a lot more than I brought in. So yeah, I failed but I’ll get back on track, I’ve been behaving a lot better as a whole. I don’t know why I failed but it must have had something to do with being ill and all that… makes you feel like pampering yourself a little. Or so I tell myself. Regardless, I’ve been doing pretty well until now and getting a lot more conscious about what I want to wear and look like than before.

Care Bears

Without further ado, here’s what I wore: Bears Cardigan – C/o Just For 5 Pounds, Skirt – Ebay, Shirt – Made by my great Aunt, Tights – Oxfam (I think), Ring – Gifted by Oh La Lali, Shoes – Office, via their outlet on Ebay, Bag – Paul Frank (I’ve had it for years and got it from Ebay at the time), Hair BowAlternate Normality (from the Blogcademy goodie bag).

Right now I’m sooo excited for the arrival of Spring, I have so many plans! How about you?

Gothic – Share In Style

January 31, 2014

Sacramento of Mis Papelicos has organized another Share-In-Style and this time the chosentheme was “Gothic”. I had to dress up for it, of course. I decided on an all black look but not totally classic goth – there is a bit of velvet but that’s pretty much the only thing that would be on a traditional goth’s closet. I decided to do a more updated glam goth version, which included sequined leggings and a few more fun bits and bobs.

The day was grey and the light wasn’t too brilliant but it just exacerbated my paleness – looking pale is totes gothic.

A bunch of bracelets I bought to use on this photoshoot with my friends.

“I’m so goth I poop bats”

So there. What I wore: Glasses – Firmoo, Sequined Leggings – Zara, Blazer – H&N, Turban – Lomography shop in Lisbon, Creepy Cat/Doll Bag – Ahcahcum Muchacha, Boots– Internacionale, Top – Stradivarius, Bracelets – Matalan

And a Gothic Hello Kitty, to complete the look. Apologies but the light was so terrible I couldn’t get a better photo of it.

Is it too late to talk about resolutions?

January 10, 2014

With all the travelling I didn’t have time or opportunity to write about my resolution for this year. After my savings have been depleted by travelling, shopping, driving lessons and replacing my old computer, it is now time to fill the pot again.

The wardrobe is bursting at the seams and needs some streamlining. For that reason I am not buying any clothes this year. That’s right. Not even those 99p bargains from Ebay. Reason being, I have no more space and I don’t really need a new pair of shoes (even if second hand) every week. I have plenty of items that still haven’t had a proper opportunity to shine either!

So,this is what is going to happen:

-I’m not buying clothes (unless it is something that needs replacing like tights and the such). The only exception will be when I am travelling as I always like to go shopping in other places. It should be the only indulgence I will allow myself.

-I’m not buying any fashion magazines either. I usually buy a few when I take the train but I should actually read the books I have been hoarding away and stop cramming my room with magazines. I usually cut them up and make clipping books out of them but I have no time for that.

-I’m going to try and alter some of the clothes I already own and hopefully learn how to sew properly, so I can make my own clothes.

-I’m not buying any more makeup unless it is something that needs replacing (like eyeliner, which I wear every day). I think I have eye shadow in all the colours of the rainbow and some more already.

-I’m not buying any more nail polish. I have all sorts of colours and shades, and only 20 nails to paint each time. I’d have to be a millipede to be able use all the polish I have in my lifetime.

-I’ll try to do clothes swaps as much as possible, as getting new different things is always interesting and exciting. the fact that I am attending one such event tomorrow at ASOS was synchronicity at its best (expect the full report next week).

-Be more realistic with my style and donate more clothes this year.

– In less words, enjoy what I already have a LOT more.

What are your thoughts? Any suggestions on how to get through this?

Outfit details: Beret – American Apparel (present from Linda), necklaceHead Full Of Feathers (from the Blogcademy goody bag), Stripy top – H&M, Dress – on sale in some mall in Florida, Cardigan – Bershka (I’ve had it for years, it has little mushrooms on it <3), Tights – Kohl’s (90 cents of a dollar), Sneakers – House of Holland x Superga (via Ebay), Nail Wraps – Models Own

Photos by Filipa, on our lunch break.

PS: I am adding this post to Sacramento’s Share in Style at Mis Papelicos – the theme this time is favourite colour – red white and blue is one of my favourite colour combos (so I keep saying too!)

ASOS #SocialSchool

December 11, 2013

Last Saturday I had once again the privilege of attending another event at ASOS. This time, Social School. Sedge Beswick, one of the social media ladies at ASOS promised to teach us everything there is to know about social media and so she did.

After a few nibbles, of course, which included branded cupcakes with several social media platforms.

We were shown a fun presentation, with a lot of interesting facts and statistics about social media and its platforms. We also played Social Bingo – each and every one of us got a card with several words and expressions that we had to cross out every time Sedge mentioned them. As with traditional bingo, the first one to complete a card got a present! I didn’t win anything on this first game but I did on the next…

As always, there is plenty of beautiful clothes around the activities room, that we all feel like taking home. As that is not possible, I just snapped a couple of photos.

After a break for more drinks, nibbles and chatting, we got back to the room and had a social media themed pub quiz. I got 2 questions right and got to bring home these festive accessories:

I also got a very cute iPhone 5 cover for my friend Filipa, as no one really wanted them.

I asked one of the girls to snap a photo of what I wore quickly, as this skirt was getting its first outing. Head scarf – Moschino, Hello Kitty Jumper – H&M, PVC Skirt – River Island (on sale, get it NOW!), Boots – Zara.

Once again, I thank ASOS for the opportunity to attend these events and be part of the group of Insiders.

PS: check the lowdown of the event at the Access All ASOS website for more details!
