Meet and Greet – Siobhan from Shopfloorwhore

January 29, 2014

I am very much drawn to colour and texture and as soon as I saw the clothes Siobhan brought to the ASOS Marketplace and Swap Shop event, I knew this was a brand I wanted to know more about. I was very pleased to find that Siobhan is really nice and approachable and was happy to give a few moments of her time to answer a few questions. What a doll! It’s a good thing she did as I am sure some of my readers will go bananas over her clothes… Won’t you just have a look?

1 – When did you start Shopfloorwhore?

Shopfloorwhore started in 2012 and initially began as a headwear label, but last year I designed and produced our first women’s wear collection.
2 – Your designs are really unusual, how do people react to them?

Its a real mixed bag, but the thing with SFW is you either get it or you don’t! If you get it, you love it, and if you don’t well you are missing out 🙂

3 – Who inspires you at the moment?

My girlfriend Tina, she is the coolest babe I know!

4 – If you could dress any of the famous club kids of all time, which one would you pick?

She picked me!! I nearly died of happiness when Princess Julia was spotted at the V & A / Meadham Kirchhoff retrospective in a sequin turban from Shopfloorwhore. Basically I can die happy now 🙂 On the subject of club kids, I have a mini crush on new gen Club Kid Nicky Ottav (http://instagram.com/nickyottav) If you don’t know him, check him out, he is a mega babe and someone I would love to work with!

5 – What’s the perfect soundtrack for your clothes?

Bubble gum 90’s pop with some acid house elbow throwers mixed in for good measure.
6 – What is your vision for the future of Shopfloorwhore?

I want SFW to continue to grow and develop, but honestly I don’t know where we will end up, and thats the most exciting part for me.

7 – What can we expect to see happening soon?

Its a really exciting time for Shopfloorwhore, I am headed off on a 3 month tour of Asia at the end of Feb. Hitting Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Bangkok and meeting some really exciting people – including stockists and buyers that I have been in talks with for some time. It really feels like this is the beginning of the next big chapter.

As well as taking the brand international, I am totally focused on making my new website (www.shopfloorwhore.com) a multi functional, destination. Where as well as buying you enter into a whole other world – one where faux fur and kawaii inspired headwear sits alongside flouro graphics and twisted takes on contemporary imagery. I am obsessed with the power of social media and the fast and furious stream of inspiration it throws up. I want my site to be a moving mood board and outlet for my vision of fun and accessible high fashion.

– Shopfloorwhore is about to go international, and its going to be a mega ride so make sure you stay tuned, you can follow all the lunacy and see SS14 drop over at www.shopfloorwhore.com
