It’s cold, it’s time for mulled wine.

The other night the boyfriend and I tried to go to the movies. As the film we wanted to see had jut premiered, we found out that there were no tickets left. Him being ever so resourceful said, “let’s just go home and stop at the supermarket on the way, I’ll get some supplies for some mulled wine”. And what a great idea it was… in this cold weather it felt like it was the best thing in the world. Nothing like a cup of hot wine to warm you a little on the inside.

So here’s the recipe for the mulled wine:

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of wine (get cheap one, no point using an expensive one)
  • 1 orange, chopped up
  • 200 gr of sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 star anise
Preparation method: Chuck everything into a pot and heat it up. It’s that simple. You’ll know it’s ready when the scent permeates the house.

As I had received some new coffee glasses from Ozeri and not being really the coffee drinker, I thought it would be the best opportunity to try them out. I think it was also the best idea ever, because they are perfect for drinking hot beverages. These glasses are made of hand blown glass, and are microwave and dishwasher resistant (I tried it myself, it does do what it says on the box). The double walls ensure that even though it’s a glass container, you don’t burn your fingers while holding the cup. The glasses are, in my opinion, elegant and would look good on any occasion and I reckon you can use them for cold drinks as well.
