Nuffnang’s 1st Birthday Party!

June 3, 2014

Last Saturday I went down to London for the Nuffnang 1st Birthday Party, as it’s just completed its first year in the UK. If you don’t know Nuffnang and you are a blogger, just get yourself onto their page and take a look, they’re great to work with and the nicest bunch you can ever meet! It was a great opportunity to meet the Nuffnang team again and see some familiar blogger faces, as well as getting acquainted with new ones! I took a few photos mostly with my phone – it doesn’t make for the best quality on the blog but it did make for better conversations. Sometimes it’s hard to worry about taking photos and hang out with people!

I thought it was a good idea to do the Oscar’s selfie style thing. Francesca of Fall for DIY, Kylie of Little Outdoor Kylie, Sarah of The Prosecco Diaries and Che of Indie Berries. The downside is that I ended up looking like a real dork. Ha well..

It was a lovely celebration, held at the rooftop bar at Netil 360, in the London Fields area. We had giggles, photos, lots of conversations, all set against a breathtaking view of London and filled with burgers, vegan tacos and glasses of Prosecco. Thank you Jesse and team Nuffnang for organizing it!PicMonkey Collage

Vegan tacos and burgers by Club Mexicana – they were delicious! I’d never heard of pulled jack fruit before but became an instant fan… Moar!

On the way there I also did a few photos, as per usual. I hope you like them too.

Blogging is not just about showing your pretty frocks, it is also about sharing and communicating with others and creating a community with other fellow bloggers – you will not only meet new people and make new friends but also gain more visibility for your blog.

Knowing this, it is important to participate and contribute, and a great way of doing this is by organizing or joining link-ups for other bloggers. As there are more and more of these available, I started losing track of all of them. I am sure I am not alone in this so here is a little list I compiled of a few bloghops and link-ups anyone can join. Some will have a theme and be quite flexible, others a bit more specific. Regardless, I am sure you will find a few you can join in and have fun! So get sharing!

The Wandering Yellow Skirt

May 7, 2014

IMG_8919

The Wandering Yellow skirt is an object d’art. It was put into circulation by Melanie from Bag and a Beret, and so it started its way around the world from Montreal, stopping around the US, Down Under and now had a little stroll around the UK. Every stop it makes, it gains a new marking, added by its latest wearer.

It has now landed on my doorstep and I had to do something with it, namely add my little bit and wear it in my own way. I can’t wait to see it when it’s fully covered in markings and designs added by other female bloggers. It will be a powerful symbol of female union and creativity, in my opinion.

The obligatory The Smiths reference, added by Curtise.

Bits added by Tamera and Jane…

… more bits by Amber and Anne the Spy Girl

All the bits and pieces added so far… including mine:

A piece of salted cod, something that’s very Portuguese, just like me!

The skirt will now be on its way over to the Netherlands, for its next stop around the world. I am grateful to have been part of this fantastic blogger/feminine/ artistic movement!

London

Pure London overview

February 14, 2014

Last weekend I attended Pure London, the UK’s main fashion trade show, where brands and designers show their wares to potential buyers and stockists. It’s a professionals only event and I was invited to come and see what was going on by Mod Dolly, who was showing AW14/15 at the New Brits section, supported by the UK Trade & Investment. This event was held at the Olympia and saw thousands of people come and go.

Mod Dolly’s lookbook for AW14/15. I’ve seen the whole collection and trust me, there are some yummy pieces in it! Here’s a sneak peek. Ssshhh, don’t tell anyone.

Bicycle print and sequins – my eyes always get drawn to these things!

Bursts of colour everywhere.

Sweetness…

Pure London

The most unusual shoes in the whole show by Julian Hakes. Shoes designed as a work of engineering/ architecture. I’d love to try them on.

Met two lovely ladies for the first time – Adora from Adora Mehitabel and Tara from The Style Rawr. We all did a fun photo at Blogbranch‘s photobooth.

My favourites:

There were a few Portuguese brands showing their wares at the event and my favourite was Ruga – lots of colour and the boots below: both of them are gorgeous, the glitter and the furry ones…. and I was told they had them in more colours. Oh dear… there goes my bank account…

Snarling lips by MissCo Girl – attitude! Taking the lips purse to the next level.

Olivia Burton‘s vintage inspired watches.

Thanh Cong Vu Studio – We’ll be hearing more about this up and coming designer. His gowns are absolutely gorgeous…

My absolute favourite bag of the day- The cat bags by Larissa K. I will have to own one. Not only they are cute but they’re also versatile, as you can exchange the flaps! What a great concept and very nice ladies – I even saw the photos of the cats the bags were inspired on. Swoooooon!!!!

As we are on the subject of cats: how amazing is this collar? The other side has little hearts too. I nearly died when I saw it and all the cat themed items from Sugarhill Boutique! I’m sure it’ll be selling like hotcakes – all my friends loved it too!

The Zatchels pastel satchel bags… I’d like one of each please, for each day of the working week. they look great and they’re made in the UK!

I think I should also mention Nooki Design. I ended up not taking a photo, which was really silly of me but I got so distracted by the cuteness of their bunny clutches that all rational thoughts were just gone. click on the link and you’ll see what I’m talking about…

I hope you liked this little tour as much as I enjoyed the event.

Have a great weekend!

Gothic – Share In Style

January 31, 2014

Sacramento of Mis Papelicos has organized another Share-In-Style and this time the chosentheme was “Gothic”. I had to dress up for it, of course. I decided on an all black look but not totally classic goth – there is a bit of velvet but that’s pretty much the only thing that would be on a traditional goth’s closet. I decided to do a more updated glam goth version, which included sequined leggings and a few more fun bits and bobs.

The day was grey and the light wasn’t too brilliant but it just exacerbated my paleness – looking pale is totes gothic.

A bunch of bracelets I bought to use on this photoshoot with my friends.

“I’m so goth I poop bats”

So there. What I wore: Glasses – Firmoo, Sequined Leggings – Zara, Blazer – H&N, Turban – Lomography shop in Lisbon, Creepy Cat/Doll Bag – Ahcahcum Muchacha, Boots– Internacionale, Top – Stradivarius, Bracelets – Matalan

And a Gothic Hello Kitty, to complete the look. Apologies but the light was so terrible I couldn’t get a better photo of it.

(Photos by David, taken on our lunch break)

Edit: also added to Judith’s Hat Attack at The Style Crone!
