Art – Crowdfunding DIPTIK project music+dance

“Crowdfunding to break boundaries of contemporary dance and music”

My friend Ross is a musician and is involved in a new art project. They need help getting this off the ground and I thought I’d give him a hand promoting it here on HTM. Reason being, I am interested in art and if there is anything I can do to help new and worthy projects I will try and help as much as possible. Please donate, even if it’s just a fiver. London is not easy for young artists says Grayson Perry and he is right!

What is DIPTIK?

DIPTIK dance+music have launched their crowdfunding campaign for a cross-art performance piece of an exciting new genre. Award winning composer Elliot Galvin and choreographer Katarzyna Witek have been commissioned to create this work which aims to tear down the wall between musicians and dancers in the performance space. The company’s multi-talented performers will extend their skills to break the boundaries of dance and music performance by having all performers engage in both art forms at the same time.

This piece will première at the Resolution! 2015 festival on 9th January, 7:30pm at The Place: Robin Howard Dance Theatre, 17 Duke’s Road London WC1H 9PY. Tickets and information 020 7121 1100, www.theplace.org.uk. All donations to help this fresh startup company are greatly appreciated.

Galvin and Witek’s work will explore the relationship between written music and the performers, showing how the same signs can be interpreted both in sound and in movement.

The piece will be a combination of structured improvisation plus fully composed and choreographed sections. The performers will react to each other intimately, intertwining themselves – pushing the limits of sound and movement harmoniously. This will provide audiences an entirely new, captivating experience that is purely “dance+music”.
